L. Huron & Southampton
Windy Day at Oliphant 11.5 x 11.5"
In August of 2019 we were loaned a cottage at Southampton , on Lake Huron for a 5 day painting trip. The weather was rainy and windy for parts of the week and the whipped up waves and speeding clouds were exciting to paint.
We found great sites to work - one at Gobles Beach, south of Port Elgin, an area renown for its remarkable sunsets. Another site was at Oliphant, further north along the coast of L. Huron, where typically a long, sand beach stretches way out to meet the water's edge. Having painted there before, we were surprised to discover that with the rising water levels in the last few years, the beach was now covered with water, waving grasses and bobbing boats moored just off the shore - interesting in a new way.
Pastels - soft pastel on paper, framed with mats and glass. Canvases- silkscreen paint and acrylic on canvas, framed. Dimensions describe work before framing.
