The ‘oval’ shape interests me – it has symmetry but not absolute symmetry.  It suggests references to nature - bird’s eggs, the shape of the human head, earth rotations.  It has been used by humans in art and architecture for centuries – from the ancient Roman hippodrome to modern sport fields, from the fundamentals of drawing (draw a horse with just sticks and ovals!) to abstract works.

I work with the medium of oil based silk screen paints for fabric. The paint is absorbed into the fibers of the raw canvas giving a flat, non reflective surface.  I am interested in what happens when the patterns of lines interplay with the oval motifs.
